Drury

The Drury convention is an artificial bid of 2 when partner has opened 1 / in 3 rd or 4 th seat. It shows a sound raise to 3 (or 4) in partner's major and asks him if he has a real opener or not. The modern treatment (reverse Drury) is that opener simply rebids his suit at the two level to show a poor hand and any other bid is constructive.

Some people also include 2 as a Drury bid, with 2 showing 3 card support and 2 showing 4 card support. This is called two-way reverse Drury.

Q94 This hand, from news-sheet 348, is a typical Drury 2 bid when partner has opened either 1 or 1 in 3 rd or 4 th seat.
